Once Upon a Time in America: Extended Director's Cut
(UK Theatrical Premiere plus Q&A with Elizabeth McGovern)
Brixton Ritzy, Sun 24 May 2015, 11am
Now restored with an extra twenty minutes of previously lost footage, director Sergio Leone’s gangster epic is one of the greatest and most beloved films of all time. Robert De Niro, James Woods, Elizabeth McGovern, Joe Pesci, Jennifer Connelly and Danny Aiello all star in a saga of Jewish-American friends growing up on the streets of New York, bonded and torn apart by dreams, conflicted loyalties, greed and fatal flaws.
Hauntingly told with evocative cinematography, an Ennio Morricone score and an elegant structure of flashbacks, Once Upon a Time in America represents the peak of Leone’s artistry while still delivering the thrilling pulp melodrama of his earlier spaghetti westerns.
We were pleased to present the UK theatrical premiere of the restored version at Brixton Ritzy, and to be joined by Oscar nominee Elizabeth McGovern for a Q&A after the screening.
